Beschreibung
This casebook endeavors to profile exceptional traumatic injury prevention programs from across the globe. Its detailed description and analysis employ a three-phase identification process of new programs: 1) nominations from consortium members and partners; 2) key informant contacts; and 3) document gathering. The case studies reflect legislative and regulatory information that provide a broad picture of prevention practices on a global level and national centers for injury prevention and control inform prevention practices on country wide levels. The authors work with heuristic outcome-based research criteria to develop their comprehensive, contextually aware, lifespan-oriented profiles of the programs, and all included case studies follow the BRIO approach (Background, Resources, Implementation, and Outcome) - a model designed to provide a consistent way of describing programs that have been reviewed and are considered to be exemplary practices. The scope of the casebook ranges across: The challenge of traumatic injury prevention Sports and recreationrelated traumatic injury prevention Fallrelated traumatic injury prevention Road trafficrelated traumatic injury prevention Traumatic injury prevention within complex systems In its recognition of traumatic injury prevention as a critical public health challenge, Casebook of Traumatic Injury Prevention promises to be an influential and authoritative resource for professionals and students in public health, safety, injury prevention, medicine, psychology, sociology, nursing, and engineering. Government agencies and institutions such as the CDC, public health departments, and safety associations also would find the Casebook relevant to their work.
