Mathematical modeling is the process of translating between the real world and mathematics in both directions and is one of the topics in mathematics that has been discussed and propagated most intensely during the last few decades. However, in real life situations, modeling still has a far less prominent role than is desirable. The general belief among researchers is that modelling activities presuppose conceptual understanding of the mathematics involved. Mathematical modelling, however, can be seen as a practice of teaching that place the relation between real life and mathematics into the centre of teaching and learning mathematics. Modelling activities may motivate the learning process and help the learner to establish cognitive roots for the construction of important mathematical concepts. The overall goal of Modelling and Applications in Mathematics is to provide a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art in the field of modelling and applications in mathematics.

Having 25 years of teaching experience, Dr. R. K. Tuli is Principal with S. S. M. College, Dinanagar, India. He has published 4 books and 25 research papers in reputed journals of Mathematics. Besides, being member of many academic bodies, he has participated and organized many conferences.
