Information sharing is vital for the development of society. The technological world had conceived a larger version of this network, which ultimately developed into the Internet. World Wide Web became the ultimate signal of the dominance of the information Age. Information resources such as the websites, documents, etc were developed into a world wide web. Web has assumed the form of global information system. Searching for required and relevant information from such a vast store of information will not be possible without efficient search tools and search mechanism. There are many search engines developed in the last few decades that facilitate information retrieval from the World Wide Web. However, each search engine, Meta search engine has its own Information Retrieval features. Whatever may be Information Retrieval features of web search engines, Meta search engines they should enable the users to retrieve precise and relevant information and they should also provide high level of recall value besides being user-friendly. Search engines and Meta search engines has greater significance in the global era to retrieve relevant information to satisfy the user needs.
