My car knows the future. Why? Because knowing the future enables it to act more fuel efficient. The "How?" is dealt with here. A prediction system based on Car2X Communication is designed and implemented using two exemplary use cases: Approaching a traffic light and a traffic jam. The results of measurement campaigns in real traffic and on closed test tracks show a potential for a fuel consumption reduction of 2.9% proving the potential of Car2X based prediction systems for fuel economy.
