Home security is refers to crimes prevention such as burglaries and kidnapping. Traditionally, home owner locks their house while they are not at home. However, this method is not really secure because the intruder can break in even though it is locked. As a preventive measure, home owner can install an ip camera but this method is quite costly because the owner need to buy a personal computer, router, and software. However, this method only benefit to the owner only but not to the other neighborhoods. Another approach is where house residential or housing authorities can hire home security guard to patrol their residential on specific time and monitor the neighborhood. Nonetheless intruder can predict the movement of the guards and will break in at a right time. Community based home security system using wireless mesh is a prototype system that focus on proactive crime prevention. This study develops external wireless motion sensor which is equipped with wireless ip camera. The motion sensor can be placed at hidden place so it can be triggered in the event of intrusion, and capable to send the alert to server.

Scope of the Project are: i)To establish wireless mesh network with of Openmesh wireless router; ii)To develop a wireless ip motion sensor using PIR motion and Raspberry Pi devices.
