Digital Curation in the Data Age combines both conceptual foundations and applied approaches to explore the lifecycle of data, from its collection, selection, and ingestion into an organizations management system, to its preservation, access, and use. It introduces key concepts, digital curation models, and surrounding factors that shape digital curation practices, while offering a global perspective that emphasizes the importance of international collaboration. Digital curation has grown increasingly vital as data has become an essential asset for a broader range of organizations (e.g., libraries, archives, and data centers), which now face the weighty responsibility of ensuring the long-term integrity, authenticity, and usability of their digital collections. Nevertheless, it is a complex practice that draws from multiple disciplines, including Library and Information Science, Archival Science, and Computer Science. This book addresses that complexity by serving as a comprehensive yet easy-to-understand digital curation handbook for students, educators, researchers, and practitioners alike.

Hea Lim Rhee is a leading expert on digital curation and the creator of the d-KISTI digital curation lifecycle model. She has been a Principal Researcher at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) since 2011, leading digital curation research and projects. She also has over 15 years of teaching experience on the subject at universities and government agencies. She currently serves as Koreas national liaison for CODATA and DataCite. She previously served as the Korean Ambassador for the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Co-chair of multiple Research Data Alliance (RDA) working groups, including one on Mapping the Landscape of Digital Research Tools, and Chair of the Korea Special Library Association (KSLA)s Scholarly Committee.
