Breeding trails usually includes handling of vast resource materials. It requires appropriate skills and knowledge to be applied for handling such a vast resource.In plant sciences, data are generally entered, stored and evaluated in spreadsheet programs like MS Excel. Data storage in Excel is considered risky as data are easily compromised by unintentional use of automatic formatting function. Furthermore, raw data are often mixed up with evaluation procedures and results.In this phase, appropriate software systems and computer resources are of utmost importance. Hence, the use of software of like Fieldbook and Breeding Management System (BMS) in the Breeding programme would help the breeders to prepare seed for planting nurseries and trials, make field books for data collection, make field maps, generate stock lists for different types of pollinations, manage stocks, statistically analyze, apply selection indices, maintain and manage pedigree information and much more.
