Beschreibung

The total capacity of 172 wind turbines in Hungary is 329.325 MW. Their yearly all electric power output is over 600 GWh. Hungarys total exploitable wind power potential is 532.8 PJ/year. The aim of research shown in this book is to work out those statistical methods which permit of the increase of efficiency of wind energy utilization. First the statistical structure of wind directions is shown: the characteristic and energetic prevailing wind directions, alteration of energetic parameters of the wind directions, connection between the change of wind directions and the potential wind energy. The next part is the statistical structure of wind speed, i.e., fitting and estimation of frequency distributions of daily and monthly mean wind speeds with the Weibull and other distributions at different heights. The last part includes the statistical structure of potential wind energy: basic statistics and temporal change of the monthly mean specific wind power, climatic conditions for operation of wind turbines, and a statistical model for estimating daily electricity produced by wind energy. The book is recommended to researchers to develop its methods, and to users of wind energy.
