Author carried out a geo-mechanical monitoring of shield tunneling in soft loam. Laws of change of the horizontal component of soil pressure caused by formation of slip planes in rock mass ahead of the face were found by means of numerical simulation. Face support pressure must be adjusted - these value during soil pressure fluctuations on technogenic reasons. When scheduling a replacement of the wheel cutters rock abrasiveness indicator should be considered. The problem of earth's surface minimization above the tunnels is solved using operative control of extractive soil volume and its pressure. Extracted volume monitoring (for slurry shield) and extracted weight (for EPB shield) allows you to determine the border between aerated and drowned soil layers. The epure height extrapolation of soil pressure was held by in shield face. To diagnose soil density determined that the amount extracted sandy soil per cycle has a direct relationship with a significant measure of the density of sand samples. The measured torque indicators rotor can diagnose value of specific cohesion of conglomerate rocks in the mine during the tunneling.
