The present book is the scholarly outcome of teaching and research experience. Indian situations of rural settlements special reference Pravara river basin area, Ahmednagar district (Maharashtra, India) have been discussed and explained. The contents of the book have been prepared in keeping with recent trends in geographical thoughts. All aspects of settlements have been written considering for Graduate and Post-Graduate Classes and also for research scholars. The book highlights features of rural settlements of India about evolution, distribution, settlement place names, morphology, settlement types, size, and spacing of settlements.

Mr. Sandip Deshmukh is an Assistant Professor in the Nagarpalika Arts, DJMalpani Commerce and BNSarda Science College, Sangamner.Teaching Geography from the past 13 years, he is pursuing Ph.D. degree from, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune India.He has also completed various training programs on RS and GIS from NRC and IIRS,India.
