Natural polymer based proton conducting electrolyte membranes possess several attractive features such as convenient method of preparation, low cost, good thermal stability as well as recycling potential unlike commercially available membranes. Polymer morphology could be tuned using bio molecules to obtain desired architecture that selectively allows protons and simultaneously restrict methanol passage.

Dr. S. Mohanapriya has her expertise in developing polymer electrolyte membranes with low methanol permeability based on natural polymers and biomolecules using bio-inspired materials. Her research interest revolves around renewable energy sources, biomedical applications of polymers, electrocatalysis, drug delivery and biomedical implants.
