In this book, the subject matter is explained with relevant diagrams and detailed explanations to fulfil the needs of first Year B.E/B. Tech. students. The twelve chapters in this book, based on the syllabus of Anna University, Chennai, are written to benefit the students with the required information in all the topics for better understanding. The subject matter is presented in detail to create an interest towards the Engineering chemistry topics like water technology, Electrochemistry, Corrosion, Protective coating, Abrasives, Refractories, Cement, Energy sources, Fuels, Combustion of fuels, Polymers and Phase Rule. Two mark (Part -A) questions with answers are provided at the end of every chapter to fulfil the needs of students. Wherever required, theory related problems were discussed in the book to create a better understanding in the subject.

Dr.S.Suresh, Department of Chemistry, St. Joseph University, Tanzania. He has 13 Years experience in teaching Engineering chemistry (in colleges affiliated to Anna University). He obtained his B.Sc and M.Sc degree from Loyola College(Autonomous)Chennai, M.Phil. and Ph.D from Madras University, Chennai. His field of research is adsorption studies.
