A voluminous literature is available on the comparative anatomical and histological aspects of various organs of a number of species of bats from different parts of the world. The present book deals with the structural organization including study of both; the anatomy as well as histology of a single species of bat. It is a type study of an insectivorous Leaf-nosed bat Hipposideros speoris (Scneider,1800), which is widely distributed in the Indian sub continent. The presentation of the subject is made simple, but without omitting the minute details of the critical studies of various organs of each and every system of the body. The line drawings and microphotographs are self explanatory. Special mention of the scale bar, staining technique followed and expert comments for each plate provide a complete perception of the subject.
