Beschreibung

The Asiatic Wild Dog (Cuon alpinus) or Dhole is one of the least studied social carnivores in the world. IUCN estimated its wild population fewer than 2500 and listed it as endangered animal. This book presents the first hand information regarding dholes from Nepal. Dhole study has been carried out in KCA which lies in north-eastern part on Nepal linking India at east and China at north. First camera trapping effort in KCA becomes successful to establish the presence of dholes in KCA, Nepal. Dholes are only canids distributed from tropical heat to the freezing cold. This book provides the information regarding status, distribution, habitat preference on the basis of camera trapping records, and reported killings and assessment of human-dhole conflict on the basis of interview surveys, and field observation. This book is useful to those who are interested to know wild dogs, their behavior, and ecological importance in nature. Furthermore, this book would be valuable for researchers who are researching wild dogs.
