This book deals with issue of Solid Waste Management of urban areas. It covers the various activities involved from the generation of waste, collection, transportation, storage and disposal practices. It also includes the problems emerged due to the obsolete waste management methods. It includes the classification, composition and characterization study of municipal solid waste. In order to cope with the disposal issue in context of issues related to the waste dumping ground, the use of bio-composting techniques for waste management is highlighted. Apart from the scientific study of waste management, recommendations are marked for the proper and effective waste collection and disposal practices to be carried out through urban local bodies.
