The book describes the methods of risk assessment and discusses in detail studies from the fields of nuclear power reactors, including the German Risk Study, Phase B, and NUREG 1150, the nuclear fuel cycle, and chemical plants. Studies to precursors to severe accidents are dealt with, and risk comparisons for different technologies of energy and risk comparisons for different technologies of energy production are critically analyzed. Aspects of the nuclear safety assessment and international probabilistic goals are treated.
