The marburgviruses and ebolaviruses are among the most hazardous pathogens known to mankind. These agents are highly virulent and dangerous to work with; therefore research progress has been rather slow in comparison to other viruses. After the revelation that the former Soviet Union evaluated filoviruses for biological weapons development, interest in defenses against them has reawakened. This book provides the most extensive bibliography review of filovirus research publication to date with special emphasis on foreign literature that has never been summarized. Every aspect of filovirus research, including their history, epidemiology, clinical picture, pathology, molecular biology, and political consideration is reviewed in detail.
