Niger (Guizotia abyssinica Cass.) is an important traditional oilseed crop cultivated mainly in Ethiopia and india. However,India is considered to the major niger producing country in the World. In Konkan region of Maharashtra with high rainfall and undulating topography, it is cultivated on very light soils on hill slopes where other crops cannot be grown successfully. As because of medicinal value and having dietary importance this crop become popular among the farming communities in India and abroad.Efforts were taken to paperer this manuscript for the dissemination importance of this traditional oil seed crop. The importance of this crop is widespread due to agro-tourism in konkan region of Maharashtra.This crop perform better under rainy conditions and short maturing characteristic attract this crop better manner.
