Silk is the most elegant textile fibre in the world with unparalled grandeur, natural sheen, inherent affinity for dyes, high absorbance, light weight, soft touch, high durability, fineness and is the unique strongest fiber. Hence, called Queen of Textiles in the world, silk is amongst the few commodities having world wide importance. According to western mythology, silk industry is supposed to be originated in China since 2640 B.C. and later spread to the other countries.

Dr. Vilas J. Tambe has comleted his B. Sc. In Agriculture, M. Sc. in Agriculture Entomology and Ph. D. in Agriculture Entomology from Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth , Akola . Presently, he is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Nagpur. He have teaching experience from last 20 years.
