Beschreibung
Varieties play a pivot role in boosting cane yield and sugar recovery. It is the cheapest technology on which farmers rely and can afford easily. These variety have varied degree of stress tolerance against biotic as well as abiotic stress conditions. In Bihar, during grand growth phases there is waterlogging condition in about 35-40 % area which also coincides with high temperature to favour insect pests and diseases. As such, there is a need to identify high yielding, moderate to high sugar containing clones of sugarcane tolerant to waterlogging to cater the need of cane growers and sugar factories of Bihar. To enhance the productivity of this crop in Bihar, there is need to identify such type of sugarcane variety/clone which have ability to tolerate waterlogging condition.
