Somatic embryogenesis is one of the most important technologies for micropropagation of date palm cultivars. Recently, considerable progress has been made in the development and optimization of this technique from embryogenic cell suspension cultures. This book describes a procedures for the rapid development of a large number of somatic embryos from embryogenic cell suspension cultures, also describe an efficient micropropagation protocol from somatic embryogenesis from cell suspension cultures starting with shoot-tip explants to plant acclimatization and innovative information on recent progress for suspension cultures in the date palm.
