Beschreibung
We present case studies of micropropagation protocols of selected medicinal plants like Aloe barbadensis, Oroxylum indicum, Uraria picta and Stereospermum colais. All are vauable medicinal plants used for cure of number of diseases. Demand for medicinal plants are increasing in both developing countries due to growing recognition of natural products, being non-toxic, having no side-effects, easily available and that too at affordable prices. Among the various approaches of plant biotechnology, plant tissue culture has widely been accepted as an essential tool to conserve medicinal plants and improve secondary metabolite production. Establishment of micropropagation protocol allows fast and continuous commercial propagation of valuable medicinal plant and in vitro propagation ultimately protects this type of rare and endangered plant by does not destroy the mother works.

Dr. Vilas R. Parmar is an eminent academician. Dr. Parmar had completed her B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil and Ph.D. from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, India. Now, she is serving as contractual assistant professor at M. N. College, Visnagar, India. Her areas of research interest are Plant Physiology, Plant Tissue Culture, Phytochemistry and pharmacognosy.
