This book explains about the rice Blast and Bakanae disease which causes severe crop damage along with mycotoxin contamination in food which is responsible for causing cancer in human and animals. It addressed the importance of the two diseases, isolation, characterization and biocontrol methods of the diseases. The proven biocontrol agents were both beneficial to human and soil health. Rather then the chemical control nowadays biocontrol strategy gains more importance to the farmers. The future generations of agriculture must adopt the biocontrol methods to achieve disease free rice production.

Dr. V. Karthikeyan, was graduated in Botany degree from D.G.Vaishnav College. M.Sc, Ph.D in Plant Science from centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, University of Madras Chennai, TN, India. His postdoctoral studies in University of Turin, Italy. Presently working as Asst. Prof. in Botany, Thiagarajar college, Madurai, TN, India.
