This book contains brief description about the bio-geography of Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius). The book deals with historical, phylogenetics, dispersalism, cladistics, parsimony, ecological and island bio-geography of hippopotamus. Also deals with the factors affecting the distribution of the species, taxonomic classification, bio-geography and number of hippopotamus across the world. It also gives emphasis on conservation status of hippopotamus in Africa.

Mesele Admassu Mersha was born in the year 1966, studied his Elementary and High School in Bale Zone. He studied his first, second & third degree&awarded BSc, MSc and PhD degree in Biology by AAU. He is working as Assistant professor in Adama Science & Technology University in Biology dept. By now he is Associate dean for Research & Administration.
