The poetry is an art which helps the students express their emotions, takes hold in these emotions and exhibits its fruit in harmony by ornamenting with their dreams. Teachers should provide the students with opportunities to love and enjoy the literature and poetry. In this way, the students will be able to recognize the beauties in their soul world. They should learn how to express themselves with poems, and raise their awareness about the emotions which they cannot express, but they find in poems. For that reason, poetry has an important place in literature education. Considering this importance, teachers should employ various materials in teaching poetry. This study shows that audio-visual materials are powerful tools which help the students develop positive attitudes towards poetry. Also, they can gain pleasure from reading poetry by means of audio-visual materials.
