The study focuses on the imagery and symbols in Gitanjali written by Rabindranath Tagore one of the Nobel Prize winners. It has been divided into five broad sections. As in nature, the first section titled introduction where the author writes an introduction to Rabindranath Tagore, life and works of him, Gitanjali and its seven parts. The second section talks about the originality and variety of themes, mysticism and romanticism, Tagores lyricism, his universality, diction and style. The third section lights on the imagery used in Gitanjali which includes introductions to imagery, definition of imagery according to poets, kinds of images in the poem and the lyrics where the imagery effectively handled by him in 103 songs. The fourth section describes the symbols projected in Gitanjali which includes introduction to symbols, etymology, various symbols dealt in the poem. The final section is summary and conclusion.

This book's author, Dr. T. Chinnadurai, is chiefly a teacher of English, emerging writer and researcher in the field of English Language Teaching. He is currently working as an assistant professor in St. Peter's Institute of Higher Education and Research, Avadi, Chennai-54. I have involved in publishing articles, journals and books.
