Beschreibung

This book aims to analyze and investigate the socio-pragmatic situation in references to death in a local Bedouin community in east of Jordan. It may provide a useful source about Bedouins in terms of language use and cultural background. Death in all cultures involves certain rituals with regard to funerals, burial, mourning and consolation. This book primarily aims to achieve the following purposes: 1. To explore if the social status, age, gender, and career of the deceased influences the use of different expressions for death. 2. To identify politeness strategies used by Bedouins' speech in reference to death. 3. To analyze the sociopragmatic factors in Bedouin speech related to death. 4. To investigate how cultural background and religion may affect speech about death. 5. To explore the differences in euphemism strategies used by males and females.
