Born in 1944, Duane Altheide has a B.A. in philosophy (1970) from the University of Southern Colorado and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Innsbruck. From 1980 to 2013 he worked as a counselor. Now retired, he spends his time reading and on nature walks. "Godless" was published in 2017; "The Death of Atheism" in 2018.
