Beschreibung
This work is intended to educate scholars, who seek the knowledge of the linguistic phenomenon, Code-Switching, and language research in general. What is meant by Code-Switching? Why does it happen? What are the functions that could lead to it?What are the uncovered reasons and factors? All these questions and more are aimed to be answered. Also, this book explores some general linguistic features between the two Saudi dialects under study, namely Najdi Otaibi dialect and Hijazi dialect. It is worth mentioning that each dialect, with its massive number of speakers, has sub-dialects. For instance, Otaibi dialect does differ where it is spoken in Jeddah (Hijaz region) or in Riyadh (Najd region). Likewise, Hijazi dialect which is spoken in Makkah diverts from its version spoken in Madinah. As you may notice that there are about seven years for this dissertation to be published and transformed into a book format. Thus, it is significant to consider the non-updating literature work in CS. The reason which held me behind this delay was starting my PhD in 2011. At this moment while I am writing these words, Im accomplishing the final touch of my PhD thesis at Southampton University, UK
