The purpose of this book is to explore the nature, effectiveness and implications of Christian Faith Based Organisations (CFBOs) holistic transformational development strategies undertaken for poverty reduction in the Mbeere Districts of Kenya. The ongoing crisis of poverty in Mbeere-land of Kenya in spite of the development activities of the CFBOs and numerous development organisations is the critical issue in this book. Through research, it has substantially examined the general assumption that the grassroots locations of CFBOs in African rural communities can provide better bases from which poverty reduction strategies can be effectively addressed. In a nutshell, the book assesses the effectiveness, gaps and limitations of CFBOs development strategies with the object of recommending specific reforms or research on what needs to be improved upon, dropped or added so as to ensure improved performance in poverty reduction. It is a critical text book for all students of theology and development, religion and society among others. It is a necessary reading for Universities, Seminaries, Colleges, Schools and all development practitioners across the continents.

Dr. Moses Masamba Nthukah is the Anglican Bishop of Mbeere diocese, in Embu County of Kenya. He completed his PhD in October 2014 at St. Alcuin House Seminary, Minnesota, USA. His research interests include: the interface between religion and development; contemporary theological trends; religion and human development,and religio-history of Mbeere.
