Beschreibung

In times of globalization, flow of cultures is something that occurs on a regular basis. People who are seen as bearer of cultures are sometimes forced to coexist in societies where cultural rules of behavior and the way of giving meaning to the world might not coincide. Immigration is a big contribution to this culture flow. But what does it mean to immigrate, and what meaning is a person who immigrates giving to the concept of immigration, cultural contacts and integration? What factors lies behind the different experiences of moving to new country with a culture that might be more or less similar to the one you are enculturated to? Current study was carried out in south of Sweden, with the purpose of exploring how the phenomenon of immigration had been experienced by some of the people who has moved to Sweden. It investigates the way they constitute meaning to the new life world and how new understandings and passive syntheses are created.
