Beschreibung

Whether already familiar with Charles Taylors philosophical opus, or only at the beginning of an intellectual journey into his philosophy, this writing presents some interpretation guidelines as well as a summary of one of the most eminent thinkers of the last decades in the field of continental philosophy. The book is based on the claim that Taylor looks for the unifying forces, principles and those desires in the human agent that can transform modern partial comprehension of reality into a new collage, i.e. a deeper and more meaningful picture of who we are and what is most essential for us. In his analysis and reflection of moral sources of modern agents identity, language, and different secularization theories, Taylor argues that human agents search for fulfillment and freedom should not be reduced to some principles of the natural sciences, but open to neglected and undiscovered perspectives of modernity, such as multicultural society, globalization process, and spiritual/religious dimensions. In order to be free, fulfilled, and have a meaningful and flourishing life, no dimension of human existence can be excluded; all dimensions remain to be examined.
