The general feeling among some of the Yorùbá people is that Eu is the Satan of the Christian religion and Shaitan of the Islam religion. However, according to the Yoruba theology, Eu is one of the primordial divinities created by Oldùmaré (God) and he is in charge of rituals and sacrifices. This study posits, through analytic, argumentative and descriptive methods of research, that, though, Satan has been wrongly interpreted as Eu, but a close look at the two personalities would reveal that the differences between both deities are more than the similarities, which validate position that both deities are different. In the same vein a preferable substitute for the interpretation of the Biblical Satan into Yorùbá was prescribed, this is aimed at erasing the already held misconception in the minds of people particularly the Yorùbá Christians and as well instilling the right conception into their minds.

Boluwatife Oyekunle hails from Abeokuta-South Local Government Area of Ogun State. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Department of Philosophy, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, and currently pursuing his Master of Arts Degree in the same department at Ahamdu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.
