This book is an attempt to give a bird view of developmental initiatives in India with reference to policies, planning and programmes of development. The knowledge of development process is a must for the social work professionals as they are the agents of social change. The book address the issues such as; understanding of social policy in the perspective of national goals as per the Constitution of India; the relevance of social policy and planning to social work practice; the indicators and process of social development; and policy implementation and developmental programmes in various sectors. Dr. Gangadhar B. Sonar is MSW., M.Phil and Ph.D in Social Work from Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi. Presently working as Assistant Professor and Local Head in the Department of Studies and Research in Social Work, Rani Channamma University Belgavi, P.G. Centre, Vijayapur, Karnataka State (India). 3 books and 36 research articles to his credit.
