This book is designed for the students of education in the Colleges of education, universities, teachers of education in primary and secondary schools, educational planners, educational policy makers as well as university lecturers among others who are deeply interested in the history and development of education in Nigeria.The book is divided into twelve chapters, dwelling into the historical development of education from Greece, Rome and Nigeria. It examined the various policies on education in Nigeria from the colonial period till present. It also traced the history of the almagirin model education launched in Nigeria.

Dr. Monsuru Muraina Babatunde is an erudite scholar, prolific writer and academic guru based in the Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, Faculty of Education, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Nigeria. He holds Ph.D in History and Policy of Education.
