What happens in the space of our computer monitors when we open them up to comfort ourselves and construct our identity? Who do we confront there? Women's efforts on the Internet, both in girl cams and in blogs, can be claimed and named as an artistic self-portrait practice. This activity both stands with traditional women's art that pictures the self and takes a radical move forward in the investigation of subjects and objects, makers and the seat of power in assembling meaning. This relic is the story of what happens when one woman uses her monitor as a mirror, a screen and a portal for making do with grief and trying not to disappear.

Katherine Bzura has been a photographer, an art consultant for painters and sculptors in New York, and an award-winning gallery owner. She is now bringing art into the lives of students at the State College of Florida while she scans the horizon for opportunities to brighten our existence with contemporary art and performances into the future.
