The book titled An Introduction To The Ancient Indian Economic History: Mauryan and Gupta Periods deals extensively with the economic history of the Mauryan and Gupta ages like agriculture, land grants, industries, trade and commerce etc. After the foundation of Mauryan Empire, India was united politically as well as economically, and as a result every branch of economy whether agriculture, trade, commerce or industries made a tremendous progress, but after the decline of the Mauryan empire the economic field of India received a severe set-back, however the lacunae was later on filled by the imperial Gupta's. The authors had tried their best to provide a lucid account of the economic history of India under Mauryan and Gupta ages and hope the work would be useful for both the general readers as well as the students of Ancient Indian History.
