Beschreibung

This book assesses the effectiveness of HIV and AIDS intervention strategies within a coordinated governance framework in Gutu. The study was largely informed by the basic human needs theories such as the hierarchy of needs by Maslows (1943) and Burton (1990) and the wheel model by Tigere et al (2006) respectively. Various HIV and AIDS intervention strategies were investigated both qualitatively and quantitatively. Such intervention strategies include right based advocacy, PSS, CHBC and T&C selected through the researchers conscious choice as major intervention strategies. The effectiveness of the above strategies was analyzed in terms of how each intervention strategy meets the physical and psychological human needs. As such the study found out that implementers of HIV and AIDS must shift from symptom to the underlying causes. The reason being that in the bygone years sexual behavior was seen as the major driver and the pandemic was regarded only to be a biomedical challenge that could be resolved on medical grounds. However, this study established the socio-political and economic governance as major key drivers of HIV and AIDS prevalence not only in Zimbabwe but world-over.
