Beschreibung

Organizations and institutions which deal with human rights issue should tailor-made their models and understanding to suit African context. In this regard, defining human rights must encompass African tradition, values, norms and religion which are the backbone peaceful co-existence. However, human rights concepts which are non-African in nature should be highlighted because of globalization, technological advancement and economic, political and cultural cooperation in all spheres of life. Human rights support programmes should include elements to cater for the minority populace in society. Demonstrations, workshops and conferences should be cumbersome for all. For instance the deaf, physically handicapped and the blind should have different support programmes from the rest of the community. In other words, support programmes should be tailor-made to suit all participants for it to be more relevant and effective if well understood. The importance of human rights and human rights support programmes should also include peace education programmes for the literate and illiterate, young and adults, rich and poor.
