The book entails three articles: Danube as a mythical and cultural crossborder; Comparison between the Scandinavian and Maya Myth on Creation, and Visual Evidence of Viking Presence in the Balkans. The three articles are related to the two archaic cultures of the Vikings and the Mayas. Several global ideas can be perceived. A global suggestion is that despite the geographical remoteness, there are common features in people's cultures (the Nature of Creation, the presence of a border (Danube). That is the focus point of the first article. Another conclusion drawn is the constant need and difficulty in maintaining and protecting human civilization. That is the grand finale of the second article. The third major point is the reflection of the North-European or Scandinavian culture on the South on the axis North-South. For instance, the path of the Vikings from the North to the South is illustrated on the archaeological objects found on the Balkans as in the third article. These common cultural and mythological features remain solid and resilient through time.
