The role of transportation sector to economic development is very immense. It is one indicators of development. Human beings day to day activities are highly correlated with transportations. But it has its own demerits that are RTAs and environmental pollutions. This sector is poor in Ethiopia in terms of quality and service delivery systems. This paper mainly aims at identifying those factors contributing to RTAS, identifying major areas that the accident occurs, estimating its economic costs, identifying risky road users by occupations and age, the trends of the accidents. To this end the annual data collected from (1999-2013) by AATPB are used. In order to analyze this paper descriptive type of data analyses is used using tables, graphs and percentages. It is found from the study that drivers who are less educated, adult, males and experienced and vehicles used for fairly for long period of time are committing more accidents.
