A number of road construction projects are increasing from time to time in Gujarat, India. However, completion in predetermined cost and time is difficult. The objective of this book is to identify the factors causing cost and time overrun on road construction project in Gujarat and to give relevant recommendations to the most critical factors. This study is delimited incauses and effects of cost and time overrun of road construction projects in Gujarat. Questionnaire survey was used to collect the data from the contactors, clients and consultants and Relative Importance Index (RII) method adopted for analysis. Form the analysis four and eleven major factors are identified for cost and time overrun causes respectively. Spearmans rank coefficient was adopted to test the agreement to in ranking of the factors.There is a strong correlation in ranking between the Consultant Vs Client (Govt body) for the factors affecting cost overruns and Contractor Vs Client (Govt body) for factors affecting time overruns. Findingsof the study will help designers, clients, and contractors to aware and improve of cost and time overrun in road constructions in the future.
