The rapid industrialization of India in the recent past has been the striking feature of Indian economic development.Textile industry is one of the agro based industry in India.The textile industry is the single largest foreign exchange earner for India.It contributes heavily to gross domestic product (GDP), industrial output,foreign exchange earnings and employment. Dr.N.Savitha, working as an Assistant Professor of Economics at VIT University, Vellore, has done her M.Phil and Ph.D at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She has published 30 papers in journals and book chapters and has presented 35 papers in conferences. She has received awards in 'Econs-meet 2005' and the "Best Young Researcher Award" in 2015.
