Sustainable Tourism development has been a strong international campaign for the past two decades and tourism destinations; major and small have embraced it through specific innovations that are aimed at conserving the environment, culture of host communities as well as economic and technological development. This book provides an insight into how Uganda as a developing tourism destination has managed to embrace Sustainable Tourism Development through innovation to face lift it´s destination image,attract more visitors, conserve it´s natural resources, eradicate poverty among local people, preserve culture and improve the economic performance of the overall industry. Specific examples of tourism innovations in the country like Ndere Center, COBATI, UCOTA, Exposure Africa Crafts Village are highlighted; driving forces behind these innovations and the impact they have had on the industry. The book further elaborates the challenges hindering innovation in the industry and concludes by bringing forth possible recommendations.

Mag. Hellen Bukirwa holds a Bachelor of Catering and Hotel Management from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda. Two International Diplomas in Hospitality Management and Teachers Training from ITH Klessheim,Salzburg Austria as well as a Master of Arts In Business from Fachhochschule Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, Austria.
