This book presents a diagnostic study of the current state of rural finance in Uzbekistan and India. The focus area therefore, is microfinance and how it would help in welfare of rural people. This work is a critical analysis of various approaches throughout the world by which this programme could be made more robust and all-inclusive. It also takes into account that how the formal financial system can meet the diverse demand of financial services in rural areas. Furthermore, this work also attempts to deal with a broader question of whether the lessons from emerging microfinance market of Uzbekistan and India can be used for building inclusive financial system at anywhere else. It will hopefully contribute to understand practicability of microfinance in rural financial market of the developing economies. Beyond this, the country-focused two chapters of this book is a vivid presentation of the way rural financial market is developing in Uzbekistan and India. The book has also covered latest global developments trends in rural financial markets.

Dr Alok Kumar is an Associate Professor at School of Liberal Arts, Karnawati University, Gujarat. He obtained M.Phil and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has an accomplished academic background with number of publications, fellowships and overseas field visits. He had been actively engaged in research for more than six years.
