This book aims at investigating the demand for sustainable travelling among students in Austria. An online survey is carried out as data collection methodology to examine the travel habits and lifestyle patterns of students. Moreover students' associations with and interests in sustainable travelling are examined. This book further explains terms and various definitions of sustainability in tourism and introduces the supplier side of sustainable tourism by investigating the offer of sustainable travelling on the Austrian market. Moreover fair trade in tourism is discussed by outlining the key issues of fair trade and how fair, ethically and socially responsible travelling can be realized through implementing fair trade principles into the tourism industry. Finally it can be discovered that although there is a high interest among students in sustainable travelling the knowledge about sustainable travel offers is rather low.

Caroline Matzka seeks a sustainable lifestyle in her daily life to ensure that her children and grand children are able to enjoy their lives in a beautiful world, too. She works as Marketing Manager for the Vienna Tourist Board and is responsible for Brazil, Italy, France, Spain and Turkey. She supports the sustainability team of her organisation.
