The major source of income for most enterprises is from its operation the process of generating revenue by providing goods and services to outsiders. Operations involve the incurring of costs and expenses, and unless a satisfactory level of revenue is generated a loss or a low level of income will result, no matter how carefully costs and expenses are controlled consequently, the meaning of revenue and the criteria for its recognition are important not only to accountant, but also to the enterprise and to the users of its financial statements.
