Beschreibung
North-Eastern states of India comprise of eight sister states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. These states are among the most neglected and underdeveloped states in India and are usually referred to as the peripheral states. In the absence of adequate economic development among these states, the out-migration for the purpose of education and employment has grown over the last decade.

Pinak Sarkar is a PhD scholar in Economics at the Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum, affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His area of specialization includes internal migration in India, regional development and health economics.
