This multidisciplinary volume examines the way sharia connects to patterns ofeveryday life and sociopolitical dynamics in various contexts. Various methods are used to look at the issues including, social science approaches, religious studies, as well historical approaches. Nevertheless, all chapters look at the basic dynamic of Muslims and non--Muslims in various sociohistorical contexts making interpretations of the Islamic tradition within particular cultural and social contexts. Thereby, sharia dynamics, the role sharia plays in everyday practices and a range of sociopolitical processes, such as globalization, nation building, gender equalization, and ethnicization and racialization.
