Managing Home and Work: Role of Dual Career Couples in Guwahati City deals with dual career couples of Guwahati City who have to undertake the dual responsibilities of looking after their homes and careers in their day-to-day lives. The book focuses on the socio-economic characteristics, occupations and engagement patterns of dual career couples, their employment characteristics, domestic roles including sharing of housework and looking after children; and other social, economic and occupational roles. The book deals with the impact of location factors on the job salience of dual career couples, including job satisfaction. The book also investigates the problems of dual career couples belonging to different income groups, due to location of workplaces and in different career pursuits and also deals with the domestic, social, economic, occupational and emotional/psychological consequences of dual career households. The book takes into account the views of both the spouses of dual career couples and portrays the similarities as well as the differences in the ways male and female spouses of dual career couples perceive their dual roles.

Dr. Parijat Borgohain teaches Geography at Cotton College, Guwahati, India. She completed her M. A. in Geography specializing in Social Geography from Gauhati University, in 1995. She obtained her Ph.D. in Geography from the same university in 2006. Dr. Borgohain has presented research papers in many conferences, both in India and abroad.
